Random crashing means random crashing, any time, no matter what where I am on the internet. Lately though, it seems to be only crashing when Firefox does its interminable updating.

Please consider next time to turn on send info to Mozilla from withing Firefox before posting. No info means guessing.

Running version 53 could be the issue. Is unsupported and insecure. Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ Or could move the Extended Release Version : 52.5.2 ESR. It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.

Low ram and older systems should move to ESR version.

Keep Windows 7 Updated, run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files.

Suggest keep a Video Card Drivers safe after reinstalling. As will be unsupported soon enough. Am hoping you are a Note Book and Win 7 x 64 https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows%207%20-%2064 If not re-enter the information.

Please uninstall Flash 25.0 r0 100's of security issues. Flash Player Version: 28.0.0.126 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Maybe, it is for the video card. If experience tearing or other graphics issues turn it back on.

I don't understand your first sentence. What does this mean: "turn on send info to Mozilla from withing Firefox before posting."

I said I have a PC with: Windows 7 (it is 64) Firefox 53.0.3 ATI Radeon Graphics Card that is current

This issue began occuring long before I had FF 53.0.3; it began in Jan. 2017.

My computer randomly turns off when I run disk cleanup, but I run CCCleaner (the new Piriform version) and Puran Defrag; I HAVE to, to keep MB from piling up in cache. When they pile up, my computer shuts off.

Flash player is not on my PC.

I asked my question because information on this support forum indicated that some graphics cards cause crashing. I checked my graphics card and the driver, and they are up to date.

Do you know if an ATI Radeon graphcis card causes crashes/random shutdowns?

Please let me know if you need more information.

When you do https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/share-telemetry-data-mozilla-help-improve-firefox

"turn on send info to Mozilla from withing Firefox before posting."
withing should be with in.

When you do I can inspect your Video Card Drivers for issues & problems and just telling me does nothing much, than tell me "up to date".

Driver issues is a reason for crashing, slow loading of pages and a wide range of other problems that can be solved just by seeing the report. There is nothing identifiable sent. It is not necessarily the card but the preponderance of issues with drivers. So small yes to the card, big YES to drivers.

Cache default is 350megs then it is over written. CCcleaner can cause issues in itself by deleting needed drivers or if runs before a reboot and files have not been transferred from TEMP to where ever is done.

Have you opened up Device Manager and then clicked View Hidden Devices before ? If any Yellow warnings, need to find the drivers. Can also click all that is there 1 at a time then Right Click and check for Drivers. Can write your Network Card name down and find drivers from the manufacturer.

If is a Intel did it ever get a updated Chipset to about 3yrs older than when got. Did Mother Board ever get updated drivers at all. All this no. ends up with a very slow computer.

At own risk DriverMax. but run only one time for all then get rid of it.

"...Firefox 53.0.3", and I said your are running a unsupported browser and insecure, And provided solutions which you have not made any comment about.

So I gave you info on versions, info to backup Profile, Export Bookmarks as HTML please do those things.

The Extended Version Release would be wise. As possible corruption in 53 files.

Need the bp- files as a URL as explained in this please Copy/Paste: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-asking-support Only need last 3 sent in another message.

Thanks for your reply and for those links.

I have always had telemetry turned on.

My computer is not slow.

I have Never Update checked because if I don't, Firefox never stops updating, and I can't use my computer. Even though I have Never Update checked, Firefox still occasionally updates.

I run Windows 7 on an AMD Athlon 64 x 2 dual core 5200, 4 G RAM, ATI Radeon 3100 graphics. My graphics card is current and so is the driver.

There are no yellow flags at Device Manager.

I am going out of town in a couple of days and will change to EVR when I get back (after Jan. 1). I don't want to risk not having my computer before I go out of town.
