My problem in a nutshell: How it's supposed to work: Adress bar: I enter something without a dot --> default search engine searches for the entered term. Search bar: I enter anything --> default search engine searches for the entered term. What happens: Adress bar: Firefox tries to load "https://[search term]", e.g. "https://google/" (except when I use one of the other search engines from the dropdown menu) Search bar: Nothing happens until I use one of the other search engines from the dropdown menu What I've already tried: -safe mode -changing default search engine -> now the recent default search engine works via dropdown menu, but the default one doesn't at all -clicking on the search option in the adress bar (2nd option on screenshot) -> nothing happens, just like in the search bar -restarting the computer -closing all other (visible) applications None of those solved the problem.
