I do not have my tablet with Android 7.1.1 set to auto-update. Over 18 hours ago I said Update All in Play Store for 4 updates. 3 installed fine but Firefox after completing the download just said installing. Each time I have looked since, and now, it still says installing.

How do I abort the update ?

BTW, on my old tablet, running Android 6.0.1, Firefox 55.0.2 updated just fine in Play Store.

I tried to uninstall through Settings-Apps, but although that 'worked', Play Store still says Firefox is installing.

I powered down the tablet. After powering up, I installed the Firefox Beta, no problems.

So all is now well.

Any reason you're installing the beta, and not the release version?

Yes. See my original post. The release version 55.0.2 hung on my Android 7.1.1 tablet, so I wasn't prepared to try it again.

Eventually, I uninstalled the beta and then installed version 57.0 with no problems.
