Please help!!! The drop down menu doesn't work anymore. It shows up but none of the functions work. How do I get this to work again. It doesn't work on most websites and shows up as a huge list that doesn't work sometimes or a shorter list that doesn't work. I have to hold the command button or the option button down for a link to open in a new window. I want to be able to pull it down and not have to use both hands. Thank you

Hi there,

If you go into about:config, you can create ui.click_hold_context_menus again if it has gone missing.

That doesn't work, that was the first thing I did when it started. I also started it is safe mode, unclicked telemetry and checked all of my add ons.

Did your Firefox get the 55.0.1 update? The release notes don't mention any fixes for problems with the right-click context menu, so perhaps it wouldn't help: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/55.0.1/releasenotes/

But just in case: Update Firefox to the latest release

Also, does Ctrl+click work on your Mac for the "right-click" context menu and if so, does it stay displayed?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
