Why have some of my bookmark toolbar items disappeared
Hello, I have been using Firefox for years, and have never experienced this problem. When I opened the browser today many of the items on the bookmarks toolbar were missing, e.g. PayPal, Chase, etc. When I right-click on the toolbar, and select "Open All in Tabs", it states, "You are about to open 17 tabs. This might slow down Firefox while the pages are loading. Are you sure you want to continue?" Currently there are only 4 items remaining that were there just yesterday. There may have been 17 items on there previously (they filled up the entire toolbar).
How can I recover the lost items? Why did they go away? I didn't intentionally delete them.
Thanks for your help. John

I discovered that while in the toolbar editor, I could move all of the items except PayPal and eBay. All of the other items displayed their URL, but PayPal and eBay did not, and I could not move them like the others. And so I moved all of the items in front of the PayPal and eBay.
Thanks for your help. John

This means the bookmarks are there. To open the Bookmarks Manager, press the Alt or F10 key bring up the tool bar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control>(Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.
Using the directort tree on the left, select the bookmarks toolbar. If you can;

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.
Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Select All of the tests. Then press Execute on the bottom.
Thanks for your reply. I selected the Bookmarks>Show All Bookmarks, and a window opened, from which I selected "Bookmark Toolbar". I can see all 17 bookmarks. Apparently, the first 6 appear, but then PayPal, Chase, etc. (up to #17) are missing) How can they be restored?
Thanks again for your help.
Look at the far right of the bookmark toolbar. Do you see a double right arrow? Click it.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
If the Places Maintenance extension can't repair the places.sqlite database file then remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database file from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
