Hi, you can change the number of tiles on the default New Tab page by zooming in or out (Ctrl and + key, or Ctrl and - key).

You may also want to keep the same zoom setting when clicking on a new tab: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.preload and double click on it to change 'Value' from True to False.

It is also possible in about:config to change the maximum number of tiles, by scrolling down to browser.newtabpage.columns (or .rows), then right click > Modify, to set a new number in 'Value.' More - Configuration Editor for Firefox.

As an alternative, you may like to try the add-on New Tab Tools.

From Firefox 41, you need to use the add-on New Tab Override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the New Tab page.

Once installed, open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A) > Extensions, then look for New Tab Override and click on Options to set your preference.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If you wish to continue using Super Start, this may work: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to extensions.superstart.set.browser.newtab.url and double click on it to change 'Value' from False to True, then restart Firefox.
