My page starts flashing very quickly, gives me the not responding message on my tabs and then I get an unresponsive script message
I'm on windows 10. I just had my PC worked on last week to remove a trojan and this has been happening ever since. It doesn't matter what site I'm on, though it seems to be worse on facebook. (It just happened now while trying to post this.) The unresponsive script error I got now is script: chrome://browser/content/tabbrowser.xml:3804 Someone please help. I'll be using Chrome until this gets fixed, though I much rather stay with Firefox. Thanks.

Just in case;
Perform a System File Check to fix corrupted system files Win 7, 8, 10, Vista: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833
See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
- 1 Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systemsv40 {web link}
- 2 Uninstall Firefox from your computer {web link}
DO NOT remove your profiles. - 3 After, reboot the computer. Then run the full installer.
Thanks for the advice. Did everything you suggested, but I'm still having some problems. It's not as severe as before, but still getting the flashing and not responding. However, the non-responsive script error has stopped. Any other suggestions out there?
If the script error returns, write down what is says (all of it) and post it.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
here's my script error.
A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue.

I'll do the safe mode later. Thanks for your help

Thanks so much for your helpfulness and for helping a woman keep her sanity.
Here's the newest error. Script: chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml:286 Does the fact that the script says chrome and I'm using FF have anything to do with it?
No. Firefox uses the "chrome://" protocol to access its own internal files and also access files from extensions (no connection with Google Chrome).
You can actually open such a file by pasting the URL in the location/address bar although in this case you would want to inspect the source (line 286).
- view-source:chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml
Note that this is only useful for developers in most cases.
Did you try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
- Places Maintenance: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
Ok, I don't want to give myself a kinahurrah, (that's Yiddish for jinxing oneself) but since I disabled the hardware acceleration things have been quiet. Just to be certain though, I'll wait a day before I check this off as solved.
Thanks for all your help and I'll let you know if it's "problem solved"
