Hello

I am hoping someone much more technical / browser aware than I am can help me start to troubleshoot my perculiar issue.

On my macbook, using firefox for 3 commercial websites, I can browse them, I can ask for help on them but I cannot add anything to shopping cart and I cannot log into my account on these 3.

In many other websites, I can do all e.g. log into my account, add things to shopping cart.

In these 3 websites, no error message is given. And I checked cookies, and cookies allowed.

So I gave up and accessed these 3 websites on my iphone using safari browser. And no issue. I could log into my account and add things to shopping cart.

Where do I look to troubleshoot as cookies say are allowed?

thankyou

For some web sites to work for you properly, they need to store cookies on your computer. These only contain things like preferences for the site.

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.

You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:

  • Click the "Site Identity Button" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
  • Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
  • Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab

You can inspect and manage the permissions for all domains on the about:permissions page.

If clearing cookies didn't help then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies got corrupted.

  • Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookies files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
