Frozen when lid closed
My laptop is Win8.1, I have set it to do nothing when lid is closed and power options are set to stay alive. I close the laptop lid and go to work. At work I TeamViewer onto my laptop but I cannot control Firefox (I can control the rest of the OS). Today I left my laptop open and now at work I have full control of Firefox, as well as everything else. Its like Firefox freezes with the lid closed switch

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

It sounds like Firefox is hanging. Please follow these troubleshooting steps How to fix when Firefox hangs
I can recommend fine tuning the performance of Firefox http://kb.mozillazine.org/Category:Tweaking_preferences this is a list of preferences in the about:config page that can be tuned to control the persistent connections.

I can open and control in Safe Mode but I get a white window when opening the full version. I am on the default theme, I cannot see Extensions or Services while in Safe Mode. I have plugins for Adobe, Shockwave, Silverlight and VLC but these are all up to date
Ok, if it works ok in Safe Mode, then an add on is causing this issue. Configuration Options for Add-ons
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.
- Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thank you.
I did this in Safe Mode but I still just get a white screen (not even the Minimise, Maximise and Close buttons) when it restarts. Two boxes came up inbetween and these were blank apart from the title bars - Import Wizard and Reset Firefox - they disappear after a few seconds
Start the COMPUTER in safe mode with network. Start Firefox normally. After everything is running, try closing and opening the lid. Is the problem still there?
