Chosen solution

There is a setting in Thunderbird Account Settings > Server Settings in an account to leave messages on server. Make sure that box is unchecked.

Are you using POP3 or IMAP?

Yes, I am using POP3. I'm wondering if there is a setting I'm missing that tells my server to erase the email there, once sent.
