Google play requires a credit card for membership. Currently, firefox wants people to download firefox for android from google play. Thus, in order to get firefox for android, you need a credit card in order to download it.

Can't you find a better way to allow people to download this free app? I do not like the idea of having my credit card information spread all over the net just to get a free android app.

hello, it should be possible to download free apps like firefox from google's play store without providing any credit card information (at least i've never been asked for that).

alternatively you can also load the firefox .apk files directly from mozilla's ftp server: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android

However if you manually install a Firefox Release or Beta version apk then there will be no software updates (like on desktop) as the new versions will need to be manually installed.
