Reloaded my Win 7 x64 laptop and tried to install Firefox but it crashes after you hit "next" to begin the install, it extracts but hitting next to start the install causes it to crash. Created a new Win 7 vim with the same software and it installed fine. Tried everything in the posts didn't work. Any ideas ?

Are you using the full installer or the stub that downloads files from the internet?

You can find the full version of the current Firefox 26.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

It is possible that anti-virus software is interfering.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
