How do I separate the downloads dialog and bookmarks from the Library box so that I can see each separately and at the same time like Firefox used to allow?

After the last update, Firefox placed the download dialog and bookmarks into the same dialog box, thereby prevent one from seeing both at the same time. I cannot find any option to separate the two. It is severely cramping my work flow. Can you tell me how I can once again see my download progress in one window and my bookmarks in another?

Chosen solution

You can display the new Downloads Manager in a tab by opening the about:downloads page and you can consider to open this page in a separate window.

If you prefer the old downloads window enter about:config in the URL bar, then search for browser.download.useToolkitUI and double click to toggle the value to "true".

The browser.download.useToolkitUI preference will no longer work in future for Firefox 26.0 and newer though.
