Here's the situation: I was using Firefox today and it was working fine. A window popped up saying it was updating Firefox or something like that. After that, Firefox stopped working saying "trouble loading page." It is not my internet connection as Internet Explorer still works just fine. I even tried re-starting my computer which did not help. I also uninstalled Firefox and tried to re-install it with again, no luck. I really need help with this as I am taking an online class that works best with Firefox.

Chosen solution

Was that a Firefox window or possibly a fake pop-up created by a web page?

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Thank you - although the Malwarebytes did not find anything, my regular anti-virus software did and removed it. Everything seems to be working just as it was!
