i have changed about:config 6 or 7 times, yet everytime i restart it's back to yahoo on the keyword. how can i LOCK about:config so it cant warp it?
recently something happened where my typing into the address bar resulted in being directed to a yahoo site and yahoo is listed in my search engines - i keep deleting it, and altering about:config, and every day it's back..... how can I LOCK it so it cant come back? where the heck did it come from to begin with? grr.....i tried to search in my computer and cant find anything there. it's gotta be an attachment to something, but i dont know what.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See "Creating a profile":

In Firefox 23, the address bar search provider should be the one listed next to your Firefox search box. The default is Google, but you could check on whether that has changed to Yahoo.
keyword.URL was removed from Firefox 23, so that shouldn't be related to your Yahoo problem.
You can set keyword.enabled to false to prevent searching via the location bar and if necessary use a keyword search instead (you can set a keyword via Manage Search Engines).
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
