As far as a hard number of bookmarks, many users have mentioned over 2000 bookmarks. and I have had like 2500 bookmarks in Firefox.

Hi Buce,
Yes there is but I am not sure how the algorithm works.

In practice you are unlikely to have a problem

The book marks are stored in a database that includes history, and the size varies on different machines. If you have many thousands of bookmarks it may start reducing the space available for History.

Not sure recently I ever recall anyone running out of bookmark space on a Desktop. (Apparent contradiction due to fact system changed recently).

Install & Run places maintenance

That includes an option to generate a short statistics report showing the status of your database.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
