Usually when you open a new tab, your cursor is already in the address bar. Could you describe the problem in a little more detail: Is the problem that the cursor moves somewhere else and you can't get into the address bar? Or you can get the cursor in the address bar, but typing on the keyboard doesn't do anything? Is there anything unusual in your new tab, for example, instead of showing the usual thumbnails of frequently visited sites, does it have a search engine or other unexpected page?
