How do I enable text search in my work Microsoft Office Account with Firefox 12

I have just upgraded to Firefox 12, and I have a problem. When I log onto my work Microsoft Outlook e-mail account remotely, the new Firefox doesn't even recognize that there is a search text field where I can type within my Outlook window. It even happens when I use hotmail or something as simple as doing a google search. It's almost like it doesn't know that there are places to type text or words to click on. I am sure that this is a simple problem, but I don't know how to solve it. Thanks!

Chosen solution

Might be interference from an add-on, particularly any add-on that relate to modifying or automatically filling in forms. A standard diagnostic for that is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."

If you can click and type in forms normally, this points to one of your add-ons (or a custom setting) as the problem.

If form fields still don't work, we would have to consider other factors.

Any luck?

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

jscher2000 - that did it! Thanks a lot! It's funny that Firefox wouldn't even recognize the "register" field for this forum and I wasn't able to click to register, so I had to do it from the Internet Explorer. I use Firefox here for minimal, but important internet activity, so that helps a lot.

Cor-el - thanks a lot for your response, too. Really appreciate it.

The color scheme was checked as you suggested. It was the add-ons, but I have no idea which one. When I upgraded to Firefox 12, I should have paid more attention to what was being put on there (Yahoo search, weather, etc.). One of the many add-ons did it, but I am not sure which one.
