Clicking the Go Back arrow does not take me back to previous screen, instead the current screen remains.

Does the visited status appear if you open the links in a new tab with a middle-click with the mouse wheel?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Cor-el - Resetting to Default seems to have cleaned up the Go-back issue based on trying several sites and within each. However - that has disabled the Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+ 2.0.0, and earlier you had suggested using that so I could have the color icons back on the toolbar. If I have to, I'll stick with Default, but it was really nice to have the color icons back. Hopefully, you'll notify browser techs about this.

Can you verify that the Firefox 3 theme is causing the problems by disabling all extensions but enabling and choosing that theme?

You can also try a new test profile with only that theme installed and check the behavior before and after installing and enabling the Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4+.

If you can confirm that the theme is causing it then try to contact the creator via his website.

Cor-el.. Wanted to let you know that still using theme 3 and removing all add-ons as you suggested, and then enabling each, one at a time, I found the culprit: Autofill Forms 0.9.8.3. I'll look for another app to replace it.

However - now when I click on a Google link and then go back, the link I used no longer is shaded differently to indicate I've used it. Help here, or should I submit a new post? Regards. gw

Sorry - I've been away.

FYI browser now is working fine even with all the add-ons back on. Go figure.

However, re: the visited status in Google... doesn't matter if I open a link listing in same or new tab, there's no change in the color of the listing when going back to the Google list.
