I have two URL's that keep reappearing in my Location Bar history. I've cleared history several times and the next time I start Firefox (v7 & 8) they return! I highlight them, press the delete key and they vanish but return the next time Firefox refreshes or starts.

One URL is of the store that sold the computer the other is simply a site I visited. I have searched both in the registry and found nothing.

All other URL's can be permanently cleared until I reenter them, but not these two!

Ideas????????

Chosen solution

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks and those entries can't be removed from the location bar drop down list with the Delete key.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> See below When using the location bar, suggest : Choose Nothing from drop down menu.

Doesn't help, there are always URL's you want to revisit via the pull-down option and going back to bookmarks is slower.

Using your suggestion it got rid of all URL's while set to Nothing, but once restarting with the History and Bookmarks invoked, the two unwanted URL's return.

FIXED!!

cor-el clicked on the "Yellow" star and chose remove bookmark and the star(s) became opaque in color. Restarted Firefox and the two unwanted URL's were still there.

Next I chose Tools, Clear Recent History then again restarted Firefox. This time the two unwanted, resistant URL's were gone forever.

Thanks
