Question Corrupted Content Error loading (www.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593711&goto=newpost)

Question Corrupted Content Error loading (www.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593711&goto=newpost)

Chosen solution

Firefox 7 shows a clear error message. In Firefox 3.6.23 I see an empty page and nothing happens.
I only happens with the &goto=newpost appended to a http://www.bimmerpost.com link and not with a direct link that doesn't require redirecting.

Very odd, if I use the link from your post it opens fine, if I copy paste it fails every time in FF7, FF8, FF9 and FF10.

Very odd indeed. I just tried it and copy/paste fails every time but clicking on the URL it works every time. If I copy/paste into IE it works every time.  ?

Thanks, Mick

Thanks! I have only upgraded one PC to 7.0 FF so far. I'll hold off till this is fixed.

There are two location redirects send by the server on that request and Firefox doesn't allow that.

If you leave out the &goto=newpost then only one redirect is send and it works.
If you click the above link that has a trailing ')' then that also makes the server send only one redirect because that link is no longer valid.

Doh, I didn't even notice that. Thanks cor-el.

So.....as of FF 7.0 itś not going to work, ever? Sounds almost like Comcasts' Digital downgrade that forced us to use a converter and provided fewer channels. :(

Is this something that was just added to 7.0? I still don understand why it works clicking directly but fails with a copy/paste.......

Thanks , Mick

It fails with copy and paste if you paste the correct URL without the trailing ')' that this forum sees as part of the link.

This is a server problem and needs to be fixed on their side, so you can contact them and inform them about this issue.

I just now upgraded my Linux Mint 11 system to FF 7.0.1 and it now fails the same way as my XP FF 7.0.1 Nice to have a work-around, just delete the &goto=newpost

Thanks again,

Mick

I got a reply from the guy who does they server at Bimmerpost:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Unfortunately, I can't explain why firefox would decide to handle links in this way but of course it is their prerogative. It seems the only solution would be to use a different browser as obviously when you follow that example link you would want to link into e89.zpost.com and not any other bimmerpost site, and so the server properly corrects the link for you.

Mark"

I assume they have no plans to fix it. :(

This link works: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593711&goto=newpost

So you need the change the http://www.bimmerpost.com links to those.
