I Updated my Firefox, as requested and the new page no longer offers a Firefox, bookmark or home button. Also, certain shortcuts I'd saved have totally disappeared and it's difficult to figure out how to add them back to the tool bars.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

I rarely, if ever, use full screen so that wasn't a consideration. None of your suggestions brought the menu bar up, temporarily or otherwise.

I do have a menu bar which shows 'most visited', 'getting started' and 'latest headlines', plus shortcuts I added BUT, I still don't have a Firefox, bookmark or home button.

I miss my old Firefox.

It is possible that the screen size is too big.

Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.

If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.
