Importing bookmarks from Internet Explorer
I have Firefox 5.0.1. I exported my IE Favorites/bookmarks to a USB key. When I go to import bookmarks, Firefox only lists under "Import Settings and Data" Safari as the only option ... what am I doing wrong?

Since you already have the bookmarks in an HTML file on Flash drive, we'll start with that. There is an import under the File menu that allows you to import more than bookmarks, if IE is on the same system. I tried it as a test from Opera today and that did not work, but there haven't been many changes to IE.
Backup existing Firefox bookmarks:
- The first thing you want to do is to create a backup of your current bookmarks, in case you don't like the final results, you can restore if anything goes wrong.
Ctrl+Shift+B > Import and Restore > Backup > c:\temp\bookmarks-2011-08-13.json
Bookmark separators
- I like to add a couple of bookmark separators to the end of the Bookmarks Menu, so I can easily identify where the imported bookmark folders and bookmarks were added.
Next import the exported bookmarks HTML file produced by IE
Ctrl+Shift+B > Import and Backup > Import from File > address-of-file-on flashdrive
Bookmarks will probably get added to the end of Bookmarks Menu
Upon successful completion would you mark your question as solved, only the original poster can make that determination, and make it easier f0r others with the same or similar questions.
Modified
You can import the HTML with the exported IE Favorites in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks ("Import from another browser" and "Import from file")
