Using 5.0.1, when I follow a link there's no way to get back to the previous page, neither is there any way to reload a page nor to stop a page from loading. And, another "Undocumented Feature," my Menu Bar items (File Edit View etc...) [OK, go ahead and laugh, but I like seeing my old friends on the menu bar... ] are completely grayed out and unreachable -- that happened after I right-clicked the menu bar and selected Customize.

Please do the following.

  1. Right click a blank part of the Tab bar and then click "Menu Bar" to restore the text links. Be aware though that doing so will remove the orange Firefox button.

  2. If you want to keep the orange Firefox button, hit the ALT key to toggle the text links on and off.

  3. To move the tabs to below the location bar where you normally type in a web address, right click the Tab bar again and then click Tabs on top. They'll subsequently reappear below.

  4. To rearrange the layout, right click the Tab bar again and choose "Customize". A panel will open and while it remains visible, you can move elements such as buttons and toolbars around. You can also drag buttons/toolbar out of that panel and add them to the toolbar. Similarly, you can drag those you don't want into that panel where they'll remain in case you decide at a later date you want them back.

  5. To reinstate the status bar which has been removed in FF 5.0, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

  6. See this article for other useful tips: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/central/

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
