how do i stop the session restore option from being offered?

more options

I know I can choose not to open previous sessions but what I want is for the option not to appear/be offerred every time I open firefox. I have found reference to the restore option for crashes but not for when it is offerred EVERYTIME I use firefox. Surely for every utility/feature there is the option of turning it off?

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and all open tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Are you referring to the Restore Previous Session item below the Search box on the default about:home homepage?

If so, you can set the former Firefox Start Page as your homepage.
