updater not working

I keep getting messages about updating Firefox, and I start the updater, but it never finishes updating. I've gotten the updater alert probably 4 times now, with the same result. I'm working on a MacBook Pro with OSX 10.6.7

Download the full version from http://www.mozilla.com and install it. The update is not working for you. It will take about the same time anyway.

Permission errors on Mac:
If you were getting permission errors on a Mac, download the latest Firefox version, then uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Do not remove your profile directories and files as they contain your settings, bookmarks, history, extensions, passwords, and cookies.

In fact don't let Firefox be started for you. Exit the install, and start Firefox in the normal manner so you don't inadvertently create a new profile.
