In firefox 4, the orange box in the top left hand corner that symbolizes the Menu bar has an icon/chunk missing, does anybody know why?

more options

The little drop down box that contains all the navigation to the options in one place has this annoying little white box that seems like an icon is missing.

In the tour video that orange (or purple) colored box does not have an icon and simply says Firefox. My only guess is that this missing icon is related to the previous version of Firefox- the latest version of the version before Firefox 4.

I know this isn't the biggest of problems but i just find it annoying as i don't like it when things do not display properly.

Any help is much appreciated.

P.s. I have tried reinstalling Firefox 4 again and this was not fixed.

Chosen solution

The icon you have shown does not imply that there is something missing at that place. Normally, that place is also orange and that icon should not be there.

First of all as now you are using firefox 4 so click on that orange button, and click on Sync Now to synchronize your data so that you can recover it as it is after reinstalling the browser. Be sure to note down your sync key before uninstalling.

Guide on How to Use Sync: What is Firefox Sync?

Now do a complete uninstall of your browser by following the steps given :Complete Uninstall

Please be sure to remove your profile and bookmarks and everything personal settings as these settings and all things are safe on Mozilla Servers and you can get it back by Sync And then install your browser again and see if that tiny icon disappears or not.

Hey there. I had the same problem and I noticed the little white box went away when I was using the foxtab add-on. Then it came back after I stopped using it.

I disabled foxtab and haven't seen the little box since. I think it's a glitch with the add-on.

Before completely re-installing your browser as suggested above, I'd check to see if you have foxtab and try disabling it first Best, -T

Thanks for the help sunveer. Your solution worked as you can see in the screenshot. It must have had something to do with uninstalling ff3 and not cleanly installing ff4.

hangtownca you may have had the quicker solution as i did have foxtab installed and enabled the whole time but did not think that could be the possible cause. In any case, situ resolved and thanks a bunch to both u guys taking the time to help out :)
