Ever since I installed the newest version of Firefox (3.68), I get an error message every time I open Firefox. Type Error: this.instalDir is null. Since I have installed 3.68, my Google Search function does not work at all. I can't uninstall the toolbar, and when I try to go to Google to re-install the toolbar, Firefox becomes unresponsive. I get another error message telling me it can't complete the script.

This happens with ANY toolbar I try to download, including Goodsearch. Right now, I don't have a Search function! and I can't get rid of an obviously non-working toolbar.

If I reinstall Firefox, I'll lose all my bookmarks etc right?

Do you have the "ask-toolbar" installed, if so, uninstall it to see if it helps your situation.

I changed the ask window in the upper right hand corner and replaced it with Google so that DOES work. However, when I try to download the Goodsearch Toolbar I get the following:

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsExtensionManager.js:623

This is the problem I've been having all along since installing Firefox 3.6.8

Please read this article and read the "The link to add GoodSearch to the Firefox toolbar doesn't seem to work" section:

It adds the Goodsearch search engine to the drop down search engine menu at the upper right corner of the Firefox page. However, I still can't load the Goodsearch Toolbar or remove/reinstall the Google Toolbar.

At one time, I had both toolbars on my Firefox page. I'm assuming this most recent Firefox upgrade is hampering the toolbar issue or there is a glitch with Google Toolbar and Firefox.
