I've been using Firefox for a while, but all of a sudden (today) it has repeatedly started asking me for a master password. I have not set this feature. I tried to create and remove one to make it stop asking for the master password, but that does not work. I can click cancel and it goes away for a second but then comes right back. To move between web pages, I have to cancel 4-6 times before the page loads. I've tried changing the master password (set then remove) and then restart Firefox, but that has not helped either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried manually resetting it?

1. Enter chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul in the Firefox location bar. This is where you enter a URL of a page.

2. Press the Enter key

3. You will now see a warning message stating that this will reset all your saved passwords. Click Reset

If using the chrome url (chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul) doesn't work then delete key3.db and signons.sqlite (Firefox 3.5) and all signons#.txt files (if any exist, Firefox 3.0 uses signons3.txt) in the Profile_Folder.
