Thunderbird for Mac won't allow me to set up Gmail. I'm using the latest version (128.4.3esr) of Thunderbird on Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1.

It gets stuck on "Checking Password"

I've gone through all the standard checks - The password is correct, IMAP Access in verified in Gmail, Accept Cookies is on in Thunderbird settings, incoming and outgoing server details are correct. Firewall and anti-virus are off etc.

I really want to stop using MS Outlook for Mac, but need a reliable Email client. Am hoping this is Thunderbird....

Anyone know a fix for this? Thanks

What are the server settings? Make sure to use OAuth2 authentication. If you use an app password, stop it. With OAuth2 authentication you'll have to use the main account password.

I'm using OAuth2. No app password. Server settings are:

Incoming Server (IMAP): Server: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 SSL/TLS: SSL/TLS Authentication: OAuth2

Outgoing Server (SMTP): Server: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 SSL/TLS: SSL/TLS Authentication: OAuth2

Is there any error message? Also check the error console for anything related (Ctrl-Shift-J).
