Way to expand the limit on number of messages in one mailbox in Thunderbird
Hello all I just started my thunderbird after years of outlook. And I have donated money I hope this helps to keep this alive. With recent 2FA changes I have had to move here. it is years of old emails and for now I am getting them to review later.
But everyone seems nice here.
When I am downloading I notice limits on number of messages in one mailbox in Thunderbird. One mailbox is everything inside one email username right?
Sometimes it stops at 10, 000 Is the limit based on thunderbird or the email server I am getting my emails from ???
Thank you for anticipated help!

Thank you for the kind words. Yes, we try to offer a friendly service. On Thunderbird, there are no limits. Yes, one mailbox is one email account, and you can have as many email accounts as you wish. If you are experiencing limits, you might check with your email provider on any quotas.
thank you for answer. the reason i ask is because i dont see any reason for the client to stop download but it stops at around 10 000. if i move the emails from this box to another box it then clears some space ..around 233 or so. THEN it downloads more ???
also i turned off compacting notification. does this mean compacting will happen whenever thunderbird requires compacting without asking for me to do so?
thank you for answers

Thunderbird: Connection to imap.gmail.com timed out
This problem is connected to this gmail time out issue?
It is on gmail. Around 10,000 messages appear on thunderbird and sometimes this message appears and stops.
How to get past this ? On the web it is fine.
thank you
You might try updating the timeout setting. - click settings and scroll down to 'config editor' at bottom of pane - look for mailnews.tcptimeout - I think default is 100. Try changing to 300 to see if that improves download.
thank you i appreciate your help. i am testing this out. i have to admit i think after years and years of outlook, i think this is better now. i just need to be able to get past the limits which i am sure is a settings thing.
i will let you know how this works out and posting a new question

You are most welcome. :)
Hello David, my personal st**ecro***[email protected] inbox seems to have a capacity of about 20 emails. Over that they drop off the cliff. This cannot be right. It is an IMAP account. I do have a second @gn.apc account (work) and this seems ok. Any advice much appreciated. Steve
check your account settings. the synchronization&storage pane has several options that may be deleting the messages.
Further, I suggest comparing every setting between the two accounts to determine the difference.
