Chosen solution

This is de jure in Google and Hotmail as those providers add the outgoing message to the sent folder as it passes through their server. As they do not offer an opt-out option for their bit of helpfulness and as Thunderbird defaults to making a copy, just about everyone gets two copies in the send folder.

It is a simple thing to turn of the making of sent mail copies in the copies and folders part of account settings by deselecting the place a copy in check mark.

What actually surprises me is how few people ask this question. There are other settings that get more questions asked that I see as easier to find. So I am left wondering of a significant percentage of folk are just putting up with two copies of everything.

I have the same problem. I use TBird to manage my gmail accounts, one of which is personal, one is work-related/enterprise. Regardless of the account, when I go into my Copies & Folders settings, the options do not help me know which folder is simply "sent" and which is "sent mail". The options are:

Place a copy in: "Sent" folder on: [email protected] Other: Sent on [email protected]

See the screenshot. Which one do I select, to have only one folder holding all my sent mail?

BTW, I have the same problem with Drafts, and with Templates.
