Hello. I don't know what happened. Ive had FIREFOX since I got my computer almost 9 years ago. I really like them. I turned on the computer this morning, and it's ALL BING!!! I don't want BING. FIREFOX was the BEST!!! I don't know what happened. I'm old and I don't know a lot about computers. Could you please help me? Thank you so much. I honestly just turn this on and off. I don't know how to do any "fancy" things with a computer. Thank you so much, for knowing so much. Sorry to say, I don't know that much.

Hello. I got 2 different replies, but no answer to my question. Here's the question again. I've had computer for 9 yrs. (new) and always had FIREFOX. This morning it was BING!!! I don't want BING. I want my FIREFOX back!!! FIREFOX is the BEST!!! Please HELP. Can you please walk me through getting it back? I don't do anything "fancy" on the computer. I just turn it on and off. I'm old. Maybe I hit a key by mistake. I don't know. Thank you for your help. I'm truly grateful.

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.

Ohhhhhh cor-el you're so nice. Thank you for getting back to me. BUT!!! can you please "explain it to me like I'm 5 years old?" I don't know where my "Firefox Trouble Shooter Mode" is. I KNOW where those 3 bars are, and I looked inside, but I don't know what I'm looking for, and then if it's bad, how to get rid of it. Can you please help me? I don't know anyone who knows about computers. They either moved or they died. I really don't care if you "spell it out" like I'm a 5 year old. Honest. I'm the ONLY ONE that uses this computer and I NEVER take it outside. Thank you for your kindness. I'm just someone who doesn't understand.

You can start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to see if that works.

  • Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox

We regularly get questions about Bing being invasive on Windows and usually this is about an extension that got installed and that changes the default search engine. Malware also can do this.
