Thunderbird's recent update to 115.3.1 is not good for me. I want to roll back.
I am very unhappy with this new Thunderbird update to 115.3.1. Everything being changed is killing my office's productivity. How can I roll back that update to the one before it.
Alternatively, is there any way to make this new update look and act like the previous version. I want all the control buttons back that used to be there.

Do you have the menu bar showing? If not, click the 'alt' button and then you can click view>toolbars>menu bar. That's good for a start. The new TB has a unified toolbar that did not exist before and you can rightclick and add many buttons to it. Please be patient in working through this as I think you will like the new setup once you have the basics set to your preferences. Going back would only postpone this transition. If you have further problems, please post as screenshot of what you see and that will help others here give feedback.

I'm not happy with it either. The font is weird and hurts my eyes, and searching messages doesn't work like it did with the previous version. Is there a way to at least change the font back to whatever it was before this most recent update? I wish I'd never installed this. Ugh.
I'd also like to roll back if someone figures it out please post, the app barely works now and is so slow sometimes I click something and it does nothing for 5 minutes, I never had any problems with the previous editions.
Seriously this thing needs to be rolled back. I hate the look and feel of this newest update. Also the whole thing seems to run slower. The font in use is terrible. Even the density control is different than the spacing in the version before - 3 options and none of them match the last.
I have always been a fan of Thunderbird, I am in fact a donor. But this update is something that I just can't live with and makes me question my continued use of the program.

115.3.1 is by far the most frustrating yet and I have been using it since the beginning with Netscape. If I could roll back, I would.
Well, I don't recommend going back because you will be forever at version 102. The cleanest way to do it is to reconstruct 102. That would be steps such as these: - exit TB - make backup of profile to ensure nothing is lost. - delete TB and install fresh 102. - create IMAP accounts - create POP accounts, but OMIT entering password to prevent premature message retrieval - copy Mail\POPaccount folders from backed up profile to overlay same folders in new setup - copy any remaining local folders to Mail\Local folders folder - start TB and continue
David, that is an awful lot of hoop-jumping and very very difficult when you have 250+ desks in your office building all demanding that it looks and acts like the last version.
This thing is now a nightmare of support. A change this radical should have been an option, at least a warning of what it would look like so people could choose not to install. Best thing that Thunderbird could do now is provide a one click button that restores the look and feel of the last version.

Such a shock to open up and find such a jumble! I have made extensive use of 'Manually Sort Folders' and now I only have alphabetical sorting so can't find my most recent clients first for example. The 'unified folders' only contains half of my email addresses. Such a mess! Need a simple 'Roll-Back' button, and especially ADVANCE NOTICE please.

I'm 74 years old and can't cope with all this changing appearance of everything. I'm not that clever with computers and can't understand all these hi-tech instructions that get suggested. I just want a button to revert to the previous version or appearance. I gave up with microsoft email years ago and it looks like I might have to find somebody who can install a different email on my laptop, because I can't do it!
UTTER DISASTER!
Agreethis is a total disaster - apart from the appalling changes to the layout, typograpohy etc, it is so slow that it could not download the code for confirmation of sign in within the specified time timit. This needs an URGENT revision to enable rollback to the full capabilities of previous version - yesterday would not be too soon Thunderbird used to be user-friendly, especially the way it saved emails etc, and one to be recommended. This atrocity is not, and could not be recommended to anybody. Reverse the process NOW Mozilla.
How do we all complain to the developers?
I have rolled back to 102 but lost my mail bar customisation. No big deal, easy to recreate, but annoying.

Hmm .... not quite as simple as it sounds: Under Windows 10, 115 scrambled my profile (not quite irretreivably, but my folders are quite messed up) and gave it a new name: xxxxxx.default-release. It then saved two folders with that name, one in AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles, and one in AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles. The one in Local seems to have just some sort of indexing data, and the one in Roaming seems to correspond to the profile whose structure I'm familiar with, so that's probably the one to use after re-installing 102. ...Then there's the question of how to ensure Thunderbird doesn't update its version at least until the bugs in 115 are sorted.
It's clear that a truly massive amount of work has gone into building 115, so it's curious that the email editing functionality remains virtually unchanged since at least as far back as Version 2.0, with no real control over font size, or the attributes of imported text, while the search functions have actually gone backwards. I guess we'll have to wait for the more major bugs to be fixed before any user-noticeable progress can be made. Meanwhile, the developers are probably more frustrated with the ungrateful users than the users are with the developers!

That's simple, turn off auto update.

I would not call a change in established UI convention with the menu bar position as being ungrateful.
The new Thunderbird 115 is too glitchy and slow. Bring back the one-click custom menu items (for example, to mark a mail read or undread, I have to click twice. I want the old "mark" button)
Maybe it has too many features? It take a long time to load and gets hung up.

This is a SuperNova fiasco! MANY of us HATE IT and it is NOT Thunderbird but another program altogether! I WANT the old one back! How were we supposed to know it would be a train wreck for us? At least give us A CHOICE AND LET US KEEP OUR WORK, and let the brave ones move on. Then we can decide if we want it. TRUTH IS FOLKS, Firefox sold the program out to Google for millions and probably for monitoring our emails for ads and who knows what all else. So while they are enjoying their new lives, they destroyed us. Do I think they will restore our lives? Probably not! But if there were any decent ones, they would.
I'm bumping this topic. Since update, TB refused to sync messages for Gmail, one of the biggest mail operators in the world, it won't sync messages that are available on all my other devices.
This is a bugged software and should not've been released from BETA.
The Support Forum is not allowing me to upvote posts here, and they've closed some other threads on TB 115.
The new "density" and font size settings are just messed. Can't get a good balance. Low density is too crowded and the next step up is too spaced out. The font also has changed and I'm not sure if this can be adjusted. Does anyone know what the former TB font was?
The forced unread messages count (no toggle for that) is ugly and distracting. I do need to keep e-mails as a record; I don't necessarily need to read every one of them. I empty my Spam folder and overweight e-mails regularly to keep things trim. I don't like this nag feature.
