After I boot my system I am not able to open Firefox as it complains about an open instance. After around half a minute the file disappears on its own.

Deleting the lock file manually works for starting firefox, but seems to sometimes delete my cookies as well.

The issue is not reproducible by just logging out and in again.

Firefox Browser 113.0.2 (64-bit) "Mozilla Firefox for Garuda Linux"

OS: Garuda Linux x86_64 Kernel: 6.3.5-zen1-1-zen DE: Plasma 5.27.5 WM: KWin

Try downloading Firefox from Mozilla. Download, unzip, and run firefox-bin from the folder and see if you have the same issue.

This works directly after boot. This is expected as like I stated in my question the problems are cause by lock files in my profile.

However, I don't really consider this as a permanent solution and would like to fix the underlying issue.
