How do I stop the Firefox popup ads, every time I open my browser? I will NEVER ACCEPT ANY OFFER via this method!

Also, how do I change the defaulted "keep me logged in" check box to NO CHECK CHECK MARK in that field as default. This is a security issue!

Thank you

Hi Makusan, I've never seen a pop-up ad about Firefox. If you could include a screenshot, we could look into that further for you.

With regard to "keep me logged in" see if "Forget About This Site" will help.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

In the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History") select "Forget About This Site"

When you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.

What kind of pop-ups are you talking about ? Is this about snippets on the Firefox Home page?

Can you attach a screenshot?

Detail like websites remembering you and log you in automatically is stored in cookies, so make sure you aren't clearing important cookies.

You can use these steps to make a website recognize and remember you.

  • create a cookie allow exception with the proper protocol (https:// or http://) to make a website remember you

You can check that you aren't clearing important cookies.

  • using "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to clear cookies keeps cookies with an allow exception
    in 102+ version toggling this setting makes changes to the "Clear history when Firefox closes" settings and those settings prevail
  • using "Clear history when Firefox closes" in Firefox 102+ honors exceptions and keeps cookies with an allow exception, previous versions removed all cookies

Make sure to keep the ""Site settings"".

  • clearing "Site settings" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exceptions for passwords and other website specific data
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data: "Manage Exceptions"
  • Settings -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history":
    [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" -> Settings

Here is another popup that occurs every time! Limit the number of times that will be displayed like maybe 2 times.

Note that Yahoo might be storing your consent in a cookie and in order to remember this you would have to allow cookies for the Yahoo website (https://yahoo.com).

Those popups are coming from Yahoo not FireFox that is just a Browser. =OK, how do I stop these pop ups from Yahoo?

And that checked box for login is a user checked option by default it isn't checked. First your are incorrect! You have NOT seen what happens on my computer screen, so your mistaken and WRONG! I'll make you a deal, I will video, and show time and date and the browser exe. So when you see the browser page come up with the auto check mark, you will owe me $10,000. If it does not show up on initial open, then I will immediately apologize on the video.

Peace and joy

It is not Firefox that decides whether to enable that remember checkbox, but it is Yahoo's choice and there is not much you can do about this apart from contacting Yahoo and ask them to reconsider their choice as this also isn't a good choice for users that aren't on their own device.

Be sure you have Firefox's built-in pop-up blocker enabled. Some extensions/add-ons, like AdBlocker Ultimate and uBlock Origin, have a built-in "Block Element" tool which works very well.

I doubt the company Mozilla or the Firefox web browser is purposely giving you Yahoo popups on the Yahoo pages. Especially when Mozilla was (or perhaps still is) in a legal dispute with Yahoo staring in 2018.

Yahoo used to be a default search engine starting in Nov 2014 in most locales of Firefox instead of Google for a while till Nov 2017.
