how do I set imap to only update inbox?

In 78, TB only updated imap - inbox. Other folders were updated on request (click into foldertree or request sync all).

Now in 91, it seems to update everything all the time. (all folders).

Having 25 email accounts and 100s of folders, my imap server is at 80% CPU load at a 3 minute update interval per email account.

That ... really costs money, electricity wise.

3 minutes update for inbox is reasonable. The other folders need not be updated continously (but need to be synced for offlne on local PC).

Is there a setting for that? Playing around with 'Abonnieren' (File menu) and sync (account settings for email) didn't help, at least in how I tried it.

Anyway, it is not really clear what the difference is, but I think there is already a bug on that wording.

many thanks,

Klaus/opto

Right-click a folder, Properties, uncheck 'When getting new messages...'. Any difference?

I already checked that for a few folders, there, it is unchecked.

I cannot really verify that for a few hundred folders unless writing an addon for that.

But in 78, it did not update all these folders.

so we have three independent settings: subscribe (in file menu), sync (in accounts with a checkbox for each of all folders) and another one for folder updates in folder properties?

Those settings are independent, e.g. you can subscribe a folder without syncing full message bodies or checking for new messages.

Are the folders that update, despite the setting not checked in Properties, the target of filters that run in TB or are the filters applied at the mail server? If the latter, the updating might be the result of the server forcing the update.

thanks, they are not part of any filters
