I am copying a problem that was reported from Hans167 20/2/21 because the same thing is happening to me. He explained the problem well so why not copy it? I started using Thunderbird in August 2021. He said he uses tasks where I use calendar events for reminders. My calendar events have not disappeared like his. Today Thunderbird updated to 91.1.2 (64-bit) and that did not fix the problem. • I use tasks to set reminders about stuff I should be doing - so on the start date they appear in the Thunderbird Reminder window on startup • I am not very good at executing these tasks in a timely manner so they tend to accumulate in the Reminder window over time • So when I shutdown Thunderbird I also need to shut down the Reminder window. When I restart Thunderbird the Reminder window reopens, normally with all the outstanding tasks displayed • What has happened a couple of times recently is that the Reminder window has not reopened on restart and on investigation not only have the reminders disappeared, but the tasks themselves have been deleted from the task tab in Thunderbird. Both times I guess I lost maybe 8-12 reminders and tasks. • I have tried to reproduce this problem without success in case I was doing something wrong - for example pressing Dismiss All does not cause this problem. But nothing I tried deleted the underlying tasks. • I don't think I did anything different on shutdown between the occasions it worked normally and the times my tasks were deleted . So at the moment it looks to me like some kind of intermittent problem.

Just to be clear, task and events are about as similar as a flooded river and an overflowing storm dr5ain. Both are a flood, but there the similarity ends. So I am trying to actually work out what your problem is, but unfortunately I really don't know what hans issues were as opposed to yours. From what I am guessing you are saying your appointment reminders are not reappearing on restart of Thunderbird. Is that correct (not that I would expect reminders to re appear as they are a one off, there will be no reminder for single reminders events in the past.

Really I see an application behaving as designed, issue a reminder and wait for input (even if that is close the program)

Matt, thank you for responding. To answer your question. In Thunderbird 91.1.2, I use events in the calendar with reminders. As a result, I expect to get reminded a certain time before the event takes place. I expect that reminder to be in the form of a dialogue box. In that box my reminders accumulate if I do not dismiss them. I do not usually dismiss them for a period of time until the event has happened and then I dismiss the particular reminder. But the dialogue button continues to show because I have more than one event to be reminded about and they accumulate. When I shutdown Thunderbird when I am done using it for a period of time or at the end of the day, the reminder dialogue also gets shut down. Many times, but not all the time, when I turn off the computer and then turn it back on and open Thunderbird, the dialogue box is missing and I have no reminders. In the most recent case I had at least 8 reminders. They disappeared. Now I do not know what events I have to do since I am not being reminded. I have googled this problem and have tried various solutions but the problem persists.

I also have the same problem as tina589. I have set perpetual quarterly and annual events with reminders (e.g., quarterly federal and state payroll filings), and all such reminders are now gone. How do I retrieve these events, or can I with update 91.1.2?
