I have been using Airmail as my email client, but now I would like to use Thunderbird instead. I've downloaded and installed Thunderbird, and then manually configured my IMAP email accounts. It all seemed to be working fine and my inbox content became up to date, but when I scroll through my folders I see that the folder list does not fully reflect what is both in Airmail and also my webmail.

Why does Thunderbird not synchronize to reflect all the folders on the server that I see in webmail?

I have checked the settings in Thunderbird and synchronizing is set to all messages.
