Hi there ! I setup two account, gmail and hotmail on a new 78.5.1 thunderbird profile.

I receive ALL the emails from the two webmails, but I fail in responding or sending new emails. The send button is greied and the sender's email appears in red. I tried all the suggestions from the post : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages

except deleting the SMTP password as it is a brand new profile.

Any other Ideas, please ?

Attached, the two SMTP setup And a screen shot of the sending window

My config : windows 10, NOD32 (i tried without the AV running). note : I downgraded from beta 84.02b to 78.5.1, but created a brand new profile and synchronised all the existing messages

Thank You !

Your settings are correct, but the problem may be caused by ESET NOD32, an app that has caused many issues this week (many posts on this forum). Try the method suggested by ESET, and see if it helps:

Hi Sfowes Thanks for the proposition

Unfortunately, I tried both solutions, even stoping NOD32 completly and it didn't work.

I finally changed the gmail password, revoke thunderbird on gmail and re-enter my credentials on thunderbird. It didn't change anything neither.

Before this, I went back to my old thunderbird profile, and there the "send" button whas up and runing !! So I deleted the passwords there and then deleted the entire old profile. I went back to the new one, and the problem is still there :o(

Again the IMAP is working fine

One thing is strange. I deleted the stored passwords (outlook and gmail) as it was recommanded it the first Mozzila post, but even after reconnecting the account i don't have the same items I had after the very first connexion after the profile creation and I don't know how to change that (see attached)

It doesn't prevent the new incoming messages to appear though.

IMAP is working fine

Any other suggestions ?

Its getting wierd...

I did a full re-installation of Thunderbird, deleting all the files except the local mail folders

I now have the correct passwords registered (see attached)

But I still cannot send any email :o(

It was working well, even with NOD32, with a previous thunderbird profile (I had to get rid off for other reasons)  !?

Tools/Account Settings, select each account in the left pane, then look at Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the right pane. Check that the outlook.fr account is sending on the outlook smtp (smtp.office365.com) and the gmail account is sending on the gmail smtp (smtp.gmail.com). Check that the authentication for the gmail smtp is OAuth2. There should not be an imap: or smtp: entry in Saved Passwords for the gmail account, as the oauth: token is all that's needed for gmail accounts.
