go back to an older version of Thunderbird.

Quit thunderbird and uninstall any installation Of Thunderbird out there, so the recent one. Make sure the installation is cleared.

try installing the downloaded older version you downloaded from the list for this. Above on the text.

after doing this stop the automatic update service for Firefox. Prevent for going back again.

If you have a firewall configure it to current use. And choose the options for now.

If you still had add-ons of a certain version, download to the version of now. A pop up menu comes up when you guys click on it.

This is about going back to an older version.

День сумо, as far as I can tell the article you cite has not been updated for version 78, and therefore is currently not a good reference for going back to version 68.

bobwass,

If you would list which add-ons you need, people here can advise you which ones have been updated or have replacements.

i was similarly appalled by 78, tried to go back to 68 + in the process was warned that i would not be able to use my current <only> profile, which seemed to imply that i would lose my address book, so i gave up on that

78 has been a very unfortunate update for me, lost all my add-ons + now have an email client that hangs more than it runs

the upside is that without email i am getting much more work done!

> 78 .... lost all my add-ons

At this point it is unusual for someone to lose all their add-ons - many have updated and several have replacements. As I mentioned to bobwass, if you provide specifics then someone is more likely to assist you.

> now have an email client that hangs more than it runs

If you file a support request for that issue someone can help you

You can download the right version for your computer/operating system from here https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/68.9.0/

On the last step of the installation do NOT select to start TB. If you miss this step then on the error that appears ref profile click Exit!

After installed go to Run (search run, select that run app) and write on that small field this: thunderbird --allow-downgrade Press enter and that's all. You will have 68 working. After that go to Option - Update - change update to manually and disable update service. After that you can search for updates manually (should suggest 68.12 - this one you are looking for and you can update). Please note that you will need to search on add-ons page the versions which are working with 68.* - those with 78* will might not work

If address book will not be available - close TB and: -move to desktop (for backup in case something goes wrong) abook.mab, history.mab, abook.sqlite and history.sqlite files from the profile folder -remove .bak ending to abook.mab.bak and history.mab.bak from the profile folder -open TB
