Recently, I wanted to try the dark theme for Firefox, but when I decided to switch back to the default theme, the result was that I still have the dark theme. How can I really return to the default theme?

I am running 68.11.0esr on 64 bit Linux.

The default theme uses the OS colour scheme which is done by GTK3 themes on Linux. Perhaps you have a similar dark GTK3 theme in use on OS ?.

Does it help if you select the light theme via customize mode ?

See also this pref on the about:config page.

To my shame, I have to admit that it was one of my extensions getting into the way. I had installed Midnight Lizard, but not realized that it keeps the theme dark. Once I turned it off, the display went back to normal. All other methods, like fiddling around in about:config or so, have not helped, though. But thanks for the ideas, anyway!

As an aside, it would be nice if there were a page detailing what the options on about:config are, and what values are possible to set.
