I imported my Chrome bookmarks to Firefox, but can't add them to Firefox tool bar.

I imported my Chrome bookmarks to Firefox, but can't add them to Firefox tool bar.

Chosen solution

Hi crl.bennet, Chrome's Bookmark Bar may be imported to the regular Bookmarks Menu instead of Firefox's Bookmarks Toolbar.

Which method of access do you prefer?

Horizontal Bookmarks Toolbar below the Main Toolbar

This article has the steps to display that bar: Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window

To move items from a different folder to the Bookmarks Toolbar, you can call up the Library window. Either:

  • "Show All Bookmarks"
  • Command+Shift+b

In the left panel, you can find the three main buckets of bookmarks:

  • Bookmarks Toolbar
  • Bookmarks Menu
  • Other Bookmarks

Click Bookmarks Menu to see whether your Chrome Bookmarks Bar folder is there. If it is, click that to display its contents in the right pane. Then you can select those and either drag-and-drop to the Bookmarks Toolbar in the left column. Alternately, you can select and "cut" them. Then click Bookmarks Toolbar to show its contents, and paste on the right side.

Bookmarks Menu Toolbar Button

This button drops a list similar to the full Bookmarks menu at the top of the screen, so you may not need it. To give it a try, here is how you can add the button; either:

(A) Use the Customize panel (Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars) to drag the icon to the desired spot on the toolbar

(B) Use the method from Bookmarks in Firefox - section entitled: How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?

  • Click the "Library" button:
  • Click "Bookmarks"
  • Click "Bookmarking Tools"
  • Click "Add Bookmarks Menu to Toolbar"
