Working on an online system that uses Adobe Flash Player, the print button on this page brings up the dialog box to print using the MS print to PDF option, when I click OK the dialog box disappear and nothing happens, it does not bring up another dialog box to ask where to save the document. I also tried with PDF995, this actually gives me an error after a minute (PDF995 Warning - The user name for the document in the print spooler queue (0) found in C:\ProgramData\pdf995\queue.ini does not match your user name (Mona). Please reprint your document). Reprinting obviously does not help

i tried internet explorer and it printed the document from the Adobe Flash Player button using the MS print to PDF printer... I would like to continue using Firefox as my browser, but not being able to print from an Adobe Flash Player setup will be a deal breaker. Please can you assist me to sort this I really like Firefox.

If no one else can get to the page to test print or see it - this will be a adobe issue to resolve.

In recent versions, Firefox limited the ability of Flash to access the system using a "sandbox." One of the affected functions is printing. You can sacrifice some of the protection of the sandbox and see whether that resolves the issue. The steps are in the following thread: Firefox will not print in https://secure.sarsefiling.co.za. Any difference?

Thank you jscher2000 I changed the sandbox setting from 3 to 1, even restarted the PC afterwards, but sadly it did not resolve my printing issue

Hi MonaB, could you open Firefox's Browser Console to see if there are any messages there related to printing? Here's how:

Once you have the page in front of you ready to test, you can open the separate Browser Console window using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Web Developer > Browser Console
  • (menu bar) Tools > Web Developer > Browser Console
  • (Windows) Ctrl+Shift+j

Click the trash can icon at the upper left to clear the current list of message, then switch back over to your main window and try the print button.

Then switch back over to the console window. Did Firefox log any errors, warnings, or other messages related to that action?

More info on the Browser Console: https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Tools/Browser_Console

Hi jscher2000, thank you for your very helpful instructions. I used the first option, it cleared the Browser Console, I then tried the MS print to PDF option and afterwards got this in the Browser Console: JQMIGRATE: Logging is active common-min.718a4b5fd527.js:6:6003 JQMIGRATE: jQuery.browser is deprecated common-min.718a4b5fd527.js:6:6344 console.trace() common-min.718a4b5fd527.js:6:6415

Hi MonaB, those messages seem to be related to a script in a Mozilla Support page. Apparently it was doing something at the same time you were trying to print. Unfortunately, I don't see anything specific to Flash or printing on that list.

In a different thread, a user said that if you move the Windows TEMP file location to a different location, the MS Print to PDF printer (and perhaps another PDF printer) gives an error. However, if you can use these printers from regular HTML pages, then I don't think that is relevant to you.

Were you able to print from this Flash application earlier versions of Firefox?

Hi jscher2000, I recently got a new laptop, went and tried from old laptop it also does not print from that particular flash button using Firefox, I tried with Chrome and can print the file MS to PDF without a problem
