Can't attach xls file to TB email in Linux Mint

My TB only allows me to insert the following file types: Image, Table, Link, Named Anchor, Horizontal Line, HTML, Maths Formula, Characters & Symbols, Table of Contents and Break Below Images. If I click on 'Preferences' then 'Attachments', then I get a page with 'Incoming' and 'Outgoing'. Incoming has Images & PDF files allowed, but no xls and won't allow me to add them. Outgoing offers to share files larger than 5 mb or what ever, and will add a new Filelink storage service. None of that helps me as all I want to do is to be able to also attach spread sheets and PDF files as well as images to my emails.

Please help, it's driving me crazy! Many thanks, Rolly

The attach icon is on the write tool bar along with the other email actions and envelope actions. The composition tools bar offers things to do with the writing of the body of the email.

The icon is also right over where the attachments appear in the window. A good idea to have folk focused on that area or they tend to have the other "blind" issue. "I click attach and nothing happens" (no email where it was in outlook or what ever product they are used to.)

Beyond that I think drag and drop is pretty popular with folks attaching files, as is the operating system menu for "send to mail recipient".

Personally I use the menu bar and the menu entry File > attach. So I am sort of guessing why the icon would be where it is.
