New setup (new PC), logged in to firefox account, both sides ticked to sync options, add ons and bookmarks. The latter 2 synced, but not the options (ie. layout) and the add-on options totally do not sync. Default firefox setup is super annoying with it's pocket, no direct icon for bookmarks etc etc. Not mentioning custom filters for ublock. So I expected this all will sync but it doesn't. One more thing - any way to sync passwords? Some offline method?

Cheers

Are the programs you are trying to sync the same version? How many are on the sync?

We need to look at the sync logs. Type about:sync-log<enter> in the address bar.

Open the last file created and Copy its contents Now Paste it into this forum.

If the file is too large;

Is the file text only? And not huge?

Open a text / word program and load the file. Left-click once. Now <Control> A to highlight everything, then <Control> C to copy it.

Next, have your web browser go to; https://pastebin.com/

Paste <Control> P the content of the file in the window. Note: On the bottom, fill out the boxes as best you can.

Now press Create A New Paste. The page will reload. Copy the new web address, and post it here.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder.

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Now Close Firefox. This is your current profile. Copy the folder As Is to a folder on a thumb drive. Then Copy the folder to the new system.

key3.db [v58+] key4.db and logins.json : These are the password files. Copy Both !

Hi,

this is a sync log from the "master" and "new" PC. There are now in total 3 in sync, I just added the third. Thanks on advice on passwords, will try it!

Good. I called for more help.

Thanks. One more major thing - the reason I need to sync the options is a default UI of firefox became a complete nonsense. First thing I need is access my bookmarks. This is now hidden behind "library" icon and even then I can only see "recently bookmarked". The whole pocket BS... Just installed win10 and really, Edge works just good and now with ublock / adblock available, there is little reason to even use firefox other than my sentiment and a couple of other plugins.

BR.

Is there any update on this? Again, I change for example uBlock settings on one laptop, I need to do it on another one. And so on. So what is actually "Options" tick mark doing in the sync settings?

Cheers

Guys,

One more time, a very simple question. What is "Sync >> Options" doing? If not syncing options.

One more try today, two machines. Added a plugin and removed it's icon from the top bar. Next day, the other firefox - add-on synced correctly, but icon not moved (I believe this is what we consider "Options"). And so with any plugin - settings would just not sync.
