The letter was very ugly it said "We received a direct dispute from you regarding certain information in your credit report . After this dispute we have read in to believe that it was submitted by and supplied to you by a credit repair organization. Therefore as permitted by Law, we have determined your dispute to be frivolous and irrelevant and will not investigate it. Hi dhughesd, I'm not familiar with "Resurgent Capital Services LP". If this is a consumer fraud matter, you could consider contacting your local State bureau of consumer protection.

(I don't think you can get much help here on the Mozilla support forums.)

This looks very much like credit fraud.

You should report this to the appropriate authorities.

The US Government has a site to Report Scams and Frauds . It has links to reach your local authorities also.

The Federal Trade Commission has a page titled Get My Free Credit Report which includes links to other consumer protection resources.

You should report this incident, and also get your free credit report. Beware of "fake" free credit reports, which actually end up costing you money.

It is generally recommended to review your credit report annually and after any credit fraud or identity theft.

Federal law gives you the right to get your report for free annually and after certain events.
