How can I receive an OBVIOUS error message when Thunderbird can't connect?
I have multiple email accounts in Thunderbird. Some had connection problems during multiple hours due to server problems. I did not notice because Thunderbird does not give me OBVIOUS warnings. Thunderbird could have popped up a message, or pop up the recent activities windows (Tools > Activity manager), showing the connection errors. a) Can I configure this somehow? b) Or is there an Addon to do this?
Thx

Pay attention to the status bar messages.
You mean the status bar of Windows? Which is what I can see when working. Thunderbird is closed to the taskbar until I receive notice about new messages - or errors, respectively ... And what happens when I go to lunch and return, do status bar messages (either Tbird or Windows) stay visible until I actively dismiss them?

No, the Thunderbird status bar.

You'd notice the first time this happens upon Thunderbird startup. When using Windows there's also an error pop-up, similar to the new mail notification. It doesn't stay open though.

That's interesting. How do I set that up?

You don't. The error pops up only once upon start up.
