Using Windows 10 and latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird when typing text in my e-mails I can switch from any language to any language (using Dutch, English, French, German or Arabic or Farsi) just depending in my Windows keyboard selection.

However when typing numeric fields, Thunderbird only shows "Arabic characters like 0,1,2,3......7,8,9) but I can't find a way to display the "hindi" characters for those digits.

Please advise as to what I do wrong

Thanks in advance for the cooperation.

See the attached picture for (what I think are) Hindi numerals inserted in a message. This is accomplished with the abcTajpu add-on. To install, drag the Download Anyway link and drop it onto Tools/Add-ons in TB.

The picture is visible on the support forum webpage.

The link I gave states that the add-on v. 1.8.5.1 works in TB 18 - 53. Tested and working here, as the picture shows, in TB 52 & 58.

Learn how to install add-ons.
