I am individual home user. Firefox continually updates to Version 51.0.1 and afterward it crashes on start up. Same thing in safe Mode. Only solution is to reset with System restore, that returns me to version 50, which works fine.

I have changed my Firefox settings so it can't update without first asking. Problem definitely appears to be in Version 51.0.1 just released.

hello, could you provide your latest few submitted crash reports? please enter about:crashes into the location bar, copy the latest few report ids from there starting with bp- & paste them here into a forum reply. this will give us a better understanding what may be triggering those crashes.

thanks, your useragent indicates you're on windows vista - though the crash report is coming from wi10. please right-click the firefox icon on the desktop, go to properties > compatibility and make sure you're not running it in compatibility mode for an older operating system...

Got two replies....Fred McD: I do not understand your reply...are you suggesting my graphics drivers are out of date and that's causing the crash???

Philipp: I did not have a crash issue with Version 50.0 of firefox, and I made no changes to compatibility settings when Firefox automatically refreshed to version 51, when crash problems started. So is there something different in Version 51 that REQUIRES a change in capatibility to my operating system?

i cannot answer that as each new version contains thousands of code changes and i cannot not rule out that any one of them causes problems in an uncommon environment/configuration. you should disable all compatibility settings for firefox anyway!

How do I disable all compatibility settings for Firefox, as you suggested?

By the way, the compatibility setting on the Firefox Properties tab does not even provide an option for Windows 10 in the pull down(re: your comment: properties > compatibility and make sure you're not running it in compatibility mode for an older operating system...)

Again, everything runs normally with Version 50 of Firefox, which I have reverted to...so I suspect that something in the code changes in Version 51 are causing the myriad of problems that are being reported on this forum site...just an observation.

please un-tick all the checkboxes in the compatibility tab after you've right-clicked the firefox icon on the desktop and went to properties
